Visiting an ESL School

There are many things I got to perceive during my visit to a school here in America. First of all, the building was amazing with everything necessary to create a learning environment for students attending that school. I also found very interesting how the subjects are divided, which objective is to make students develop all the different skill required to enter a school here in the USA. They have a whole organization that until they got to tell us has brought really good results. Something that I think could be improved is the way students are divided in the classroom. Having students that speak the same language sat on the same desks was a distraction. I have to conclude that going to that school made me think about how difficult being a teacher is, but at the same time I learned some techniques that I can for sure apply in my classes as a teacher.

The Importance of Writing

It is well known that writing is not taught in school as it must be done. At least in my country it is like that. Writing is a very important skill that students must develop to improve their new language acquisition. That is not an easy task neither for the teacher or the student. This two classes on writing techniques helped me understand how important it is to make our students get interested in writing, which would make it easier for us as teacher to see how they improve their language skills. I also learned that a writing class doesn’t have to be bored. We can make our students about many things they are interested in, but at the same time topics that will teach them something significant. I have totally changed my view on writing now, and I truly believe that with some good effort and dedication I can have a successful writing class and I can make my students love it.
