There are
many things I got to perceive during my visit to a school here in America. First
of all, the building was amazing with everything necessary to create a learning
environment for students attending that school. I also found very interesting
how the subjects are divided, which objective is to make students develop all
the different skill required to enter a school here in the USA. They have a
whole organization that until they got to tell us has brought really good
results. Something that I think could be improved is the way students are
divided in the classroom. Having students that speak the same language sat on
the same desks was a distraction. I have to conclude that going to that school
made me think about how difficult being a teacher is, but at the same time I
learned some techniques that I can for sure apply in my classes as a teacher.
There is something that I really found interesting when I visited the Public Library of Faitteville. That was how this place worries about kids and makes them get involved in reading since they are only little kids. I have never considered myself as a reading fan, and I always wondered how some other people had developed this amazing habit. I have to say that if in my country, local libraries started a project just as the one here in Fayetteville, many people would develop a passion for reading. A bunch of ideas have come into my mind to be applied when becoming a teacher back there in my country. I want my students to enjoy this amazing habit. I want them to read and take advantage of what the world of reading might bring for them. This is a unstoppable source of knowledge.
"Having students that speak the same language sat on the same desks was a distraction." I agree. Though, in your context in Panama, that will be true for all of the students. How do you think you might minimize distraction?
